Looking back at the last three and a half years of our life in Nepal, one thing has remained constant; change. As soon as we get settled into much of a routine, something comes to shake things up. This provides the opportunity to either go crazy, or to choose to refocus on the 'why' behind the 'what' that we do. The most recent change to come in our lives relates to the Banquet House. Iris Nepal has been committed to loving and serving the poor since the beginning and will continue to do so in the future. The Banquet House has been a feeding program, church and community at the current location for about six years. Throughout that time, the neighbors have graciously allowed our crowd to come in and out but have decided that they no longer want to deal with the consequences that come with those struggling with addiction. So, we are now seeking the will of God for the next step.
This change also affects The Pottery House. We chose our current location to be able to work alongside The Banquet House. Now that The Banquet House is no longer working out of this location, we will also be moving. We do not need to move immediately, but are praying about a new location and for greater clarity of vision. The Pottery House is currently storing many of the supplies and things from The Banquet House and is effectively on pause for a few months. We will be visiting the US for a couple months this summer and will begin looking for a new location when we return in September.
We have been offering a pottery club at the international school over the last few months. Last week we had our last day of school and the club was a big success. We plan to continue this in the future and hope to get into more Nepali schools as well.
There is a lot that we cannot control in life. We can only try to control ourselves and choose the direction that our hearts move in response to the circumstances around us. As things change around us, our prayer and intention is that we can become more like Jesus and always remember why we do what we do. Thank you for praying and partnering with us. No matter what you're facing right now, I hope that you're encouraged and feel the love of Jesus as you remember who He has called you to be.
